Health, safety & environment (HSE) test

 

What is the HS&E test?

The HS&E test is an important way for construction workers to show employers that they can be safe on the job. The aim of the test is to examine knowledge across a wide range of topics to improve safety and productivity on site.

The test is usually PC-based, taking place at one of the many approved test centres in the UK.

 

Which type of test do I need to take?

The appropriate test for you will depend on your occupation and the qualifications you hold. Please make sure that you sit the correct test.

There are three types of HS&E test:

Operative – tests for a basic level of health, safety and environmental awareness. This test is required when applying for the Labourer card, the Trainee card, the Apprentice card, most Blue Skilled Worker cards and most Gold Advanced Craft cards.

Manager and Professional – tests for everything in the operative test, plus additional material relevant to managers and professionals. This test is required when applying for the Black Managers card and the Academically or Professionally Qualified person cards.

Specialist – tests for everything in the operative test, plus additional material relating to a specialist area such as supervision or working at heights. Specialist tests are required when applying for the Gold Supervisor card, as well as Blue Skilled Worker and Gold Advanced

Are there any revision materials available?

Revision materials are available from most high street and online booksellers or the CITB website.

How do I book the HS&E test?

You can book the test from our website. The test costs £40.00 to book with us which includes test fee and service fee. Once paid you will receive email with booking confirmation of the test and additional details.

(Please note that each Exam is paid to be taken once only, if failed, payment WILL need to be made again to retake – H&S,E test can be retaken after 48 hours minimum. If you would like to change or reschedule your test you will need to call us and email us 96hrs prior to you test date/time. You will not be entitled to refund if you cancel / fail to attend / fail to bring correct ID for the test on the date/time booked).

Samad Solutions Ltd reserves the right to cancel (including cancellation on the day of the Test) if the Test Centre experiences a problem outside their control (including but not limited to electricity failure, security alert) and in such circumstances You will be offered an alternative Test date. Samad Solutions Ltd reserves the right to cancel without given any reason.

ID Requirements

You must provide one form of Primary ID from the list below, showing your full name, a recognisable photograph and signature.

• Passport (UK or International)
• Photocard Driving Licence (UK or European)
• Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) or Biometric Residence Card (BRC)

If you do not have the required form of Primary ID, you may present two forms of Secondary ID. This must include one from List A and one from List B.

All documents presented as identification must be originals (no photocopies or digital copies), be in date (valid / not expired) and be in your name (which must match the name on the test booking).
