A59 NVQ in 360 Degree Excavator - Plant Operations NVQ – 360 Degree Excavator  – Level 2 NVQ Diploma.

This NVQ course is aimed at individuals who hold a red CPCS card and need to achieve the relevant NVQ, once the NVQ has been successfully achieved, they will be awarded with the Blue CPCS card.

 

To achieve this qualification, learners need to complete between 45 and 93 credits in total, depending on the chosen pathway below.

This will comprise of 5 credits from the Mandatory Core Units and between 40 and 88 credits from the optional Units.

Rationale and purpose of this qualification

The qualification is designed to train people to operate plant equipment to accepted and recognised industrial standards. It is intended for those with no prior experience but it is also suitable for those in work who are looking for recognition of their prior learning and experience in their chosen industry.

The primary purpose of this qualification is to develop and confirm the learner’s occupational competence as a plant operator. As a work-related, competence-based qualification it will provide, on completion, confirmation to employers and industry managers and card schemes that learners have the skills and knowledge needed to meet the nationally recognised standard to carry out the role.

Learners who achieve this qualification can use it to gain employment or to work towards another qualification (see Progression).

Recognition

This qualification is supported by the Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS).

CPCS provides a registration card scheme acknowledged by industry for those involved in plant operations. The scheme recognises skills, knowledge and understanding, competence and qualifications.

What does this qualification cover?

As this is a competence-based qualification, learners will be acquiring the knowledge and skills required through on-the-job experience or in a learning environment.

This qualification has a range of pathways and is linked to typical job roles that learners will encounter within the industry.

To achieve the whole qualification, learners need a minimum of 45 credits.

Entry to the qualification is at the discretion of the centre.

There are no specific skills, knowledge understanding or any other qualifications that must be achieved in order to start this qualification however learners must have the potential and opportunity to gain this qualification successfully.

This qualification is mainly taken by individual’s employed/seeking employment as:

  • a plant operator
  • a loader securer
  • a crane and specialist lifting plant operator
